They were all filled with awe and praised God. A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”

Observation
Jesus travels to a town called Nain with his disciples and a large crowd. As they approach the town gate, a dead person is being carried out, along with a big crowd. The dead person is the only son of a widow. Jeuss tells them not to cry.

Jesus touches the coffin and tells the young man to get up. The dead man sits up and begins to talk.

All the crows are filled with great awe. They recognise Jesus as a prophet and praise God for His presence.

Application
Two crowds meet in this story. One is following death and the other is following life.

The power of life in Christ is stronger than the power of death. He raises the dead and brings new life to people who realise they need a new start in Him.

Crowds still follow the path of death, destruction and despair. It is exactly that state that Jesus came to save us from and lift us to eternal life.

Prayer
Father thank you for the new life that comes to us through Jesus Christ. Help me to always walk in his paths not the paths of death. Amen.
